High Density Fiber Optic Patch Cords In Data Center

What Is High Density?

The high-density optical fiber patch is an MTP/MPO fiber patch, which has the advantages of small diameter, small size, and high density, and is generally applied to a high-density wiring environment such as a large data center or a wide area network.

Classification of high density fiber optic patch cords

High-density optical fiber patch can be divided into 8-core, 12-core, 24-core, 48-core, 72-core and 144-core depending on the number of cores. High-density fiber patch can be divided into single-mode and multi-mode high-density fiber patch depending on the type of fiber.

Single mode high density fiber optic patch cords are typically yellow for long distance transmission; multi mode high density fiber optic patch cords are typically aqua or rose for short range transmission.

The high-density optical fiber patch can be divided into a main fiber patch and a branch fiber patch according to whether or not the fiber has a branch. The backbone fiber patch is an MTP connector at both ends. The cable diameter is generally 3.0mm, which has low insertion loss and reflection loss. The branch fiber patch uses an MTP connector on one end and LC on the other end. Different types of connectors such as SC (LC connector is the most common), the branch cable diameter is generally 2.0 / 0.9mm, due to the number of branch fiber patch cores, can be widely used in high-density wiring environment.

Advantages of high density fiber patch cord

1. The high-density optical fiber patch has a small diameter and a small volume, which can effectively save wiring space and is suitable for high-density wiring;

2. High-density fiber optic patch cords have good optical and mechanical properties with low insertion loss;

3. The high-density fiber patch cord connector features a push-pull latching structure for easy installation and removal and time savings.

Benefits of High Density Data Centers
High density data centers have some clear benefits for businesses. First, the more power that data center operators can pack into a small space, the lower the cost of purchasing or renting buildings to store the data cabinets. That is an important concern in regions where real estate carries a premium price, such as London or New York. In these high-cost regions, where demand for data center services is often very high, the real estate cost savings often more than offset the higher cost of purchasing high density servers.

The operational costs of the data center are also much lower in a high density data center than in a low density one, largely due to the fact that high density data centers are much more efficient than low density ones. Although a high density server rack consumes more power and requires more cooling than a low density rack, fewer high density server racks are needed to handle high-performance computing applications. Spreading a performance-intensive task over a cluster of low density server racks means that a large area needs cooling, compared to completing the task on a single high-powered server.

Data centers that use higher power in a compact setup can offer their clients a better deal. If a data center can pack more power into the same space – they can have more clients in the same space. This helps with the data center for buying or renting a building or space.

The efficiency of a high-density setup also lowers the overall cost of the data center. The more compact the data centers setup is – the easier it is to manage. This saves the data center time and money, which can also result in the client saving money as well.

Even though a high-density rack will consume more power and will need more cooling than a lower density rack, a client will need fewer racks if they use a high-density setup. This will save both parties money.

A high-density data center is the present and the future of data centers in many ways. The amount of data everyone uses today is vastly more than it was ten years ago, and the amount of data we will be using will only continue to grow. For a company to be able to keep up with storing this amount of data and also being able to afford the storage, they will need to use a data center with high-density capabilities. This also means that data centers need to make sure they need to upgrade to high-density racks if they haven’t already.

Application of high density fiber optic patch cord
High-density optical fiber patch cord can be applied to LAN, WAN, backbone network, large data center equipment room, communication base station (such as telecommunication network), cable TV, optical fiber communication system, building dense wiring system (such as residential area, industrial park, etc.), optical fiber distribution Lines and other high-density wiring environments.
