The Pigtail Fibers

The pigtail consists of a fiber optic connector and a piece of fiber optic cable. Unlike the optic fiber patch, only one end of the pigtail has a fiber optic connector, while the other end is the broken end of the fiber optic core, which is used to connect a fiber optic transceiver or fiber optic equipment.

The difference between pigtail, fiber optic fiber patch and fiber optic cable

Fiber optic cable is a set of overall structure, by optical fiber, optical fiber skin, tensile layer, the outermost skin composition, optical fiber is a part of the cable.

Fiber optic patch are optic fiber patch from equipment to fiber optic wiring links, with connectors at both ends and cables in the middle. The pigtail fiber is also known as naked optical fiber. One end of the tail fiber has fiber optic connectors, and the other end is the severed end of the fiber optic core. One end of the fiber optic connector is used for connecting equipment. The structure of the tailstock is very similar to that of a optic fiber patch. Simply put, a optic fiber patch cut in the middle is two tailstock. The tail fiber has various connectors. The diameter of the common pigtail fiber is usually 0.9mm and installed in the ODF device.

2 Fiber type

Can be divided into multi-mode fiber tail and single-mode fiber tail, multi-mode fiber tail is generally orange, the wavelength of 850nm, the transmission distance is short, for short distance interconnection; Single-mode fiber pigtails are yellow, with wavelengths of 1310nm and 1550nm, and can be used for long-distance connections.

Fiber-optic tail fiber fusion technology
